INSURANCE
The person hiring the vehicle is liable for an “Excess” of TT$10,000, however a “CDW” or “Collision Damage Waiver” is available @ an additional TT$50. (Daily), reducing the “Excess” to $5,000.

What does the term “Excess” mean?
An “Excess” of TT$10,000 means that in event of an accident regardless of the value of the vehicle, the most you will be liable for is TT$10,000. However, minor damage is calculated at the ‘cost of repair’ and ‘loss of use’. For example: If the door of the vehicle gets a dent, you will only be charged the cost to repair the door and not the entire ‘excess’.

WHAT IS NEEDED?

• Valid Driver’s Permit
• Valid Passport (for Non-Nationals)
• Must be 25 Years or Older
• Must be a Legal Driver for a minimum of 2 Years

DRIVING IN TOBAGO

• Drive on the Left Side of the Road
• Speed Limit is 50km
• Wear your seat belt (it’s the law)
• There are only a few Petrol Stations on the island, so if you are planning a long drive, best to “fill up” before heading off.
• Stay a safe distance behind vehicles, because unlike you, not everyone is a courteous diver
• There aren’t too many cars in Tobago, but the more populated areas of ‘Crown Point’ and ‘Scarborough’ (Capital) do have a tendency to have some traffic build-up during “peak times” (8:00am 10:00am and 4:00pm 6:00pm), “public holidays” & “festivals/events”.
